Adele – “Hello” vs Billie Eilish – “bury a friend”

Camera shots are similar but sometimes very different but Both follow Andrew Goodwin ( Focus on artist), but in different ways. 


Adele:

  • Frequent close-ups to show emotion
  • Natural and steady camera movement
  • Creates realism and intimacy

Billie Eilish:

  • Extreme close-ups and unusual angles
  • Tracking shots create unease
  • More experimental and stylised

When we discuss about Editing  booth are very different. Adele,  emotional continuity and Billie , psychological disruption . 



Adele:

  • Slow-paced editing
  • Smooth transitions
  • Focus on storytelling

Billie Eilish:

  • Fast cuts and glitch effects
  • Disjointed editing style
  • Creates tension and confusion

When we discuss about Mise- en scene , again are very differently and follow diferent concepts. Adele follow realism and Billie abstract .






Adele:

  • Natural lighting
  • Realistic setting (house)
  • Simple costume

Billie Eilish:

  • Dark lighting
  • Surreal, disturbing settings
  • Symbolic props (e.g. medical imagery)



When we analyse the audience of the videos of artist Adele have a wider audience ( young adults + adults) 
Billie Elish more younger audience without adults. 

Adele:

  • Wider audience (young adults + older)
  • Appeals through emotion and relatability

Billie Eilish:

  • Younger audience
  • Appeals through identity and alternative style

1.  How do your products represent social groups or issues? My music video and the digipack  represent that teenage girl who is suffering from heartbreak and emotional trauma. Representation that is real and relatable instead of what’s very common in mainstream media realism and relatability. This image demonstrates a close- up look at human emotion: The close-up  look of the character's face. The viewers can clearly see her emotion and in this way have an emotional connection to her, thanks to a close-up  view at the time. That resonates with Stuart Hall's perspective that the source of meaning comes from media. My product is not like the typical images of women that come from media: They too may have glamour and perfection. There's a limited focus on my character’s clothing such as a t-shirt and jeans, with minimal makeup.
