INITIAL IDEA / CONCEPT
Initial Concept – “Someone Like You”
🎤 Artist:
Adele
🎶 Song:
Someone Like You
🎶 Genre:
Pop / Soul
My music video will focus on a teenage girl experiencing heartbreak, inspired by the emotional style of Adele.
The entire video will take place in one room, creating a personal and intimate atmosphere. The narrative will show the girl dealing with the end of a relationship after the boy does not answer her phone call.
The video will explore themes of:
- Love
- Rejection
- Emotional pain
- Acceptance
This follows pop/soul conventions of emotional storytelling and realism
The narrative will be linear with emotional progression:
- Beginning:
The girl tries to call the boy → no answer - Middle:
She begins writing a letter expressing her feelings
Flashbacks or imagined memories may appear - Climax:
She plays the piano and expresses her pain - Ending:
She accepts the situation and stops trying to contact him
This creates a clear emotional journey for the audience.
Representation
The girl will be represented as:
- Emotionally vulnerable
- Realistic and relatable
- Sensitive but strong
This challenges unrealistic media stereotypes and instead focuses on authentic emotion and real experiences.

Style of the video:
My video will have a rainy, melancholic aesthetic:
- Lighting: Low-key, soft lighting
- Weather effect: Rain outside the window
- Setting: Bedroom (private, personal space)
- Props:
- Phone
- Letter
- Piano
This creates a sad and reflective mood
Camera Ideas
- Close-ups → to show emotion (crying, expressions)
- Over-the-shoulder shots → writing the letter
- Mid shots → playing piano
- Static camera → calm and intimate feeling
This follows Andrew Goodwin (focus on artist/emotion)
