Introduction

Introduction to My A-Level Media Portfolio

My name is Nicolas Benea and I am currently a Year 13 student studying A-Level Media Studies. I have chosen to create a music video as my final product.

I was born on the 12th of November 2007, and throughout this course I have developed a strong interest in how media products are constructed, particularly in the music industry. I decided to produce a music video because it allows me to combine both creative and technical skills, such as filming, editing, and visual storytelling.

The aim of my project is to create a music video that reflects a clear concept and targets a specific audience. I am particularly interested in exploring themes such as identity, emotions, and personal experiences, which are often represented in contemporary music videos.

In order to successfully complete this project, I will go through several stages including research, planning, production, and evaluation. During the research stage, I will analyse existing music videos to understand conventions such as camera work, editing, and representation. This will help me develop ideas for my own product.

In the planning stage, I will create a storyboard, shot list, and organise locations and costumes. This will ensure that my filming process is efficient and structured.

The production stage will involve filming my music video, where I will apply the techniques I have studied. After that, I will move on to post-production, where I will edit the footage using appropriate software to create a final polished product.

Finally, I will evaluate my work by analysing how effectively I used media language, how I represented my chosen themes, and how my product compares to real media texts.

Overall, this project will allow me to demonstrate my understanding of media theory while also producing a creative and meaningful final product.
